About the band

Sublime was an American ska punk band from Long Beach, California, formed in 1988. Blending ska, punk, reggae, and hip-hop, their music had a laid-back, California vibe with gritty, often humorous lyrics about street life, love, and addiction. Fronted by Bradley Nowell, the band gained a cult following and broke into mainstream success with hits like “Santeria,” “What I Got,” and “Wrong Way.” Tragically, Nowell died of a heroin overdose in 1996 shortly before the release of their breakthrough self-titled album, cementing Sublime’s legacy as a defining act of 1990s alternative music.
